Profound® allows people to tighten their skin without opting for surgery. Ideal for prejuvenation and early rejuvenation, these quick and simple treatments can make a big difference in your look. However, getting the best results means doing your part. So, how should you get ready for skin treatments like Profound?

Prepping for Profound

While we might tailor your preparation steps based on your needs, most of our patients are asked to follow these simple guidelines:

Stay Out of the Sun

Steer clear of UV rays for a minimum of 14 days before treatment. This means staying out of the sun and skipping tanning beds. If you forget and get UV exposure during the 14 days before treatment, be sure to disclose this to your technician.

Avoid Certain Topicals

Profound prep is simple, but sometimes we need to tailor the steps to your unique needs. Always consult with your technician on how to prep for treatment.

Steer clear of UV rays for a minimum of 14 days before treatment. This means staying out of the sun and skipping tanning beds. If you forget and get UV exposure during the 14 days before treatment, be sure to disclose this to your technician.

Many topical products cause photosensitivity of the skin. These include hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, retinol, and benzoyl peroxide, all common agents in skincare products. Discontinue the use of any items that can cause photosensitivity for at least 3 days before treatment.

Provide Medication Information

Disclose all prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements you take when you schedule your appointment. We will provide clear instructions on which medications need to be discontinued before your Profound session and for how long. If you start taking something new between scheduling and the day of your appointment, please call us so we can determine if this will impact your treatment.

Be Fresh and Clean

On the day of your treatment, take a shower and leave your skin clean — do not apply lotions, oils or fragrances of any kind. If you have excess hair in the area set to be treated, you should shave before the appointment.

Please keep in mind that we may offer more suggestions for preparing for treatment that are specific to your needs. To learn more about Profound and how to prepare for your treatment session, call Simply Smooth Laser Center in Tampa at 813-877-8067 or head over to our contact page.
